ISD, Fannie Mae and FEMA are pleased to host a Spotlight Forum on Housing Innovation and Best Practices for Disaster Recovery and Resilience in Washington, DC on March 28. Housing is the number one cost driver for communities after disasters. The 2017-2018 cycle of disasters have been brutal to communities from Puerto Rico to the Florida Keys and panhandle, Texas, California, and beyond. The Forum is divided into four parts: (1) identifying the housing issues that disaster recovery and community development leaders are most interested in solving, (2) surfacing challenges that community leaders in current disaster impact zones are facing, (3) showcasing possible innovations and solutions, and (4) developing recommendations for ongoing encouragement and development of innovative housing solutions.
