ISD’s Spring 2019 Series of Spotlight Calls on Long-Term Recovery kicks off with a focus on Hurricane Michael recovery in the Florida panhandle. Joining ISD this week is a man who wears two hats -- Ben Janke, Economic Development Director, City of Lynn Haven and Community Redevelopment Agency Director, Lynn Haven CRA. Mr. Janke is a Certified Urban and Regional Planner with more than 16 years of professional experience helping businesses with real estate development, market research, project management and environmental permitting. These days, much of his focus is on finding resources to help businesses recover from the devastating Category 4 storm which hit his community of 20,000 people in October 2018. The city is located within Bay County, which took the brunt of much of the storm, including a direct hit to nearby Mexico Beach. This is part of a 13-county Florida region that received a federal disaster declaration. The declaration also extended to parts of Southern Georgia.
— Participating recovery leaders from other impact zones are invited to share status reports as we resume weekly calls (except for holidays) through May 24.
