Albert R. Thompson
Albert R. Thompson is ISD’s senior advisor for the humanities and academic research. He is a historian and educator with Northern Virginia Community College where he pioneers new methods of interdisciplinary pedagogy. He is currently a Ph.D student in the Department of History at Howard University where he serves and program manager for the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship and president of the History Graduate Student Association. Mr. Thompson is a graduate of Oral Roberts University with a BA in government and minor in modern Hebrew and of Norwich University with an MA in Military History. In 2012 he was selected as a Minority Teaching Fellow with Virginia Community College Systems with a focus on teaching the Second World War and the Holocaust. His current doctoral research focuses on postwar American identity with minors in Public History and the African Diaspora. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
